Alfa Laval PureSOx removes sulphur oxides from the ship’s exhaust gas by scrubbing it with sea water or fresh water. The complete SOx scrubber platform ensures a proven route to sustainable competitiveness. Built with Alfa Laval innovative technology and over 40 years of marine scrubber experience, it secures compliance while using HFO rather than a more expensive alternative. Open-loop, closed-loop or hybrid arrangement are all available, as well as scrubbers with a U- or an I-design. The fuel cost savings with PureSOx will be measurable – and substantial. The unique hybrid design of Alfa Laval’s PureSOx gives both environmental and economic advantages.
Alfa Laval PureSOx contributes to sustainability because:
– It is in compliance with MARPOL Annex VI – MEPC 259(68)
– Sulphur removal rate > 98%, exceeding the IMO requirements
– Particulate matter (PM) trapping up to 80%
– Cost-saving, because it is enabling ship-owners to operate on HFO instead of expensive low sulphur fuels
– A hybrid solution allowing the exhaust gas scrubber to switch between seawater and freshwater
– The freshwater mode enables the vessel to operate in a Zero-Discharge mode
– More than 100 scrubbers are sold worldwide by Alfa Laval
