10XL is a Rotterdam based startup which developed a 3D printer that can print recyclable plastic objects with a length up to 20 meters for the maritime industry. The company started producing scalemodels of ships for towing tank tests that currently are made out of wood. A very labourintensive production method with a long leadtime and high costprice as a result. Above that, after testing, all models need to be disposed as B-wood; in total over 10km of models a year! 10XL can now produce models cradle to cradle and against lower costs in a much shorter period.
10XL prints recyclable plastic objects with a length up to 20 meters for maritime purposes. 10XL includes a deposit on its models in order to promote the recycling of the models. 10XLreduces its carbon footprint by producing the models close to its customers. 3D printers are placed on different locations close to maritime hubs.
