The innovative TT-Sense®, thrust and torque sensor is a unique measurement system for propulsion efficiency. It monitors the efficiency of the propeller and fouling of the vessels hull. The optical sensors use nanotechnology to measure shaft power and actual thrust generated by the propeller, resulting in a total efficiency overview of the propulsion system.
Via full scale measurements of propeller thrust and torque, by TT-Sense®, in relation to other parameters like ship speed, the change in propeller efficiency and the hull resistance can separately be determined over time. This for instance due to propeller or hull fouling, propeller damages and hull coatings. When the performance of the propeller and hull are measured separately this provides important input to enable cost-effective maintenance investment decisions, emission reductions and up to 20% fuel savings.
