MME Group: Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP)

MME Group’s ICCP-systems provide a modern, efficient and sustainable alternative to the still widely used sacrificial anodes. The ICCP-systems contribute to sustainability in the following ways:

  • Provide permanent protection of ships, offshore platforms, wind mills and harbour structures against corrosion, thus guaranteeing the longest possible lifespan and less use of energy and resources for repair and replacement.
  • Installing one sizable sacrificial anode on the hull of a ship, will increase drag resulting in loss of one shaft horsepower (shp) measured at a speed of 16 knots. In comparison to sacrificial anodes, ICCP-systems don’t increase the hydrodynamic resistance of the ship’s hull.
  • Ships using ICCP-systems do not depend on the usual docking interval as opposed to sacrificial anodes, which have a limited lifespan. ICCP systems’ functioning and protection levels can be monitored (remotely) 24/7. All this allows for more Condition Based Maintenance and therefore increased efficiency of the ship’s operations
  • MME Group’s superior and long term proven concept of an ICCP linear anode design for Offshore Wind turbines and Oil & Gas applications is more energy efficient than using circular ICCP anodes that were designed for use on a ship’s hull. A linear ICCP anode will consume 2,5 times less electric power than a circular ICCP anode with a surface mounted grating.

Nothing is more valuable than life. Both human life and that of our planet. MME Group provides products and services that enable companies and individuals to safeguard the long term integrity of their assets and in doing so, protect the lives of those involved with them: “A Longer Life”.

This is how MME Group’s innovative products and services contribute to a more sustainable maritime industry:
