The ESPAC™ (Energy Saving Package) consists of a propulsion package which is tailor-made to meet customer requirements. MMG and Van der Velden combine the advantages of an optimised, highly efficient fixed pitch propeller and an asymmetric leading edge rudder with a propulsion bulb and adapted hub caps.

The benefits of this efficient and fuel-saving rudder shape are a highly effective manoeuvrability, prevention of cavitation, vibration and noise. The rudder adapts to the propeller’s slipstream reduces energy losses and the costa bulb, junction cap or boss cap fins prevents hub vortex losses and cavitation. Effective rudders avoid large rudder angles in long distance sailing, reducing resistance and fuel consumption while well-designed propellers prevent tip cavitation.
