Marotechniek BV has recently developed a new, groundbreaking electric under water motor. The unit, driven by a permanent magnet submersible motor, based on sophisticated technology, is especially suitable for waterborne sand mining. The motor features built-in ‘permanent magnets’, eliminating the need to magnetise the rotor. Elimination of reactive current reduces required amperage, leading to higher efficiency. Overall, the pump assembly is 2-3% more efficient than traditional three-phase current sets and the unit is much more compact and lightweight, with less cabling required.

In recognition of its efficiency, the E-motor has been awarded with the Super Premium Efficiency IE4 notation. Prior to introduction, the E-motor successfully completed extensive testing on a sand dredger.
