Airborne: The use of structural composites in ship structures

Today’s metallic solutions for maritime and offshore environments are reaching their limits, unable to meet the demands and technical requirements of structures applied in increasingly aggressive conditions. Structural composites offer excellent alternatives for applications in maritime and offshore (subsea) environments due to their beneficial weight-to-strength ratio and their chemical and corrosion resistance properties.

Composites of Airborne Marine, compared to steel, offer the possibility to reduce weights by 50%. A lower weight is beneficial to the reduction of fuel consumption. Also, the composites are non-corrosive which is supportive to less conservation thus generates less impact on the marine environment.
